Clinical Pharmacology Analytical CoreServices

Access to state-of-the-art instrumentation for quantification of drugs and metabolites is an invaluable resource for all cancer investigators in the IUSCC. The core has two of these instruments (HPLC-MS/MS; API 4000 and API 3200) for drug quantification. In addition to the two HPLC-MS/MS’s, the core facilities have access to additional HPLC systems (equipped with UV, fluorescent, or other detectors) that may be used for routine analyses.
Compounds that have been quantified by CPAC include anticancer agents such as etoposide, teniposide, paclitaxel and metabolites, docetaxel, erlotinib, vincristine and metabolite, vinorelbine, 5-azacytidine, decitabine, gemcitabine, oxaliplatin, carboplatin, medroxyprogesterone acetate, mitomycin C, and temozolomide. Other compounds that have been quantified by CPAC include clarithromycin, midazolam and metabolites, triazolam, temazepam, norgestimate and metabolites, norethindrone, aprepitant, ondansetron, and granisetron. Additionally, CPAC now offers assessments of binding of drugs to plasma proteins.
